Taking the Plunge with Project Life

It's been awhile since I've actually scrapbooked.  I think the last time I worked on our Grand Canyon album was March 2007.  I've done some mini albums and digital books here and there but all my 12 x 12 albums have just been collecting dust in the closet.

So a couple of weeks ago, I don't even know what I was looking for on YouTube when I came across this lady's scrapbook studio tour where she mentioned Project Life.  So then I clicked on her other videos to find out more about this Project Life she's talking about and I was intrigued.  I googled it and found Becky Higgins, the creator of Project Life.  I even started a board on Pinterest (not much in there for now) and eventually bought what I needed from Amazon.

my Plastics
I only ordered the Page Protectors a.k.a. the Plastics since I've got tons of Designer Paper and a 3-ring binder already from Stampin' Up!  I got started right away and filled my crafting space with my scrapbooking mess.

my Crafting Cave
I am very pleased with my progress.  I started with Faith's birth, of course, and will just keep going chronologically until I catch up.

Within a few days, I was able to slip a great stack of photos in the Plastics.  As of last night, I got through Faith's first three months of photos done.  It's nice to look back and remember what she was like as a newborn.  Time goes by fast and capturing these moments are always priceless.  Now if I can only better my photography skills.

Nerf Birthday

A little over two weeks ago, I had a request for a Nerf party from the birthday boy himself.  His mom is my husband's cousin and also one of my childhood friend from way back.  However, my house is full of pink, sparkles and princesses and I don't know anything about the "Nerf" world.  So I googled it and came across The Blackberry Vine whose Nerf party is pretty much being cased in this party.

Here is the invitation using Camo scrapbooking paper from Michaels and card stock from Stampin' Up! in Pumpkin Pie and Basic Gray.

Part of the giveaways were individually bagged cheese balls.  A giant barrel of cheese balls were bought at Sam's Club for under $6 and Camo giveaways at Walmart for $1 for 4 kits, which included 4 bags, 4 party hats and 4 blowouts.  So I was able to make 20 goodie bags for less than $12.  I had leftover Thank You stickers from my daughter's party.

Another Thank You goodies were black licorice...not a fave candy but looks really cute all dolled up.

The cake was made by Doreen of Drago Sisters Bakery.  We also added 2 dozen mini Nerf cake darts...and thank you so much to Doreen, she just gave them to us basically free due to some confusion with our total.  She made my daughter's adorable bumble bee cake last year and will most likely be creating more fabulous cakes for us in the future.

Water bottle labels and napkin rings come standard in my parties.  They are very easy to make and add to the decor.  Paper plates, cups, tablecloths, napkins and mini army men were all just $1 each pack at Walmart, so affordable!

Nerf Juice is actually just Sunkist.  We used the orange cans as targets for the games.

Eye Protectors were cheap kid sunglasses also from Walmart and the Blowout Blasters were part of that Camo kit with the party hats and the Camo bag used for the cheese balls.  If you're having a Nerf War, eye protection is a must.

We set up three stations for the kids to use their Nerf gadgets on...Target Test, Tin Can Challenge and Army, Set, Aim!  The kids were very patient, shared, and took turns nicely.  Of course, the birthday boy won!  It is his day after all.

They also got to play outside afterwards.  Nerf Wars in progress...

yup, that's my girl!

Yummy halo-halo treats during break time were needed before the birthday boy opened his presents and everyone had their cake.

Happy Birthday, Sean!

Valentine Treats

Between Awana and Preschool, we need about 40 valentine treats to give away this week.

Treats for Teachers

Treats for Friends

Good thing free printables are available here.  I only printed Page 6 for the tags, otherwise, you'll have 13 pages of other valentine party signs, banners and such coming out of your printer.  There are other free printable designs on this website as well.  I used my paper cutter to cut the tags out into squares and just stapled them right on the the cello bags.

Since each page only makes 12 tags and I only needed 29 more tags by the time I came across this printable, I stamped and punched the Teacher Treats Tags instead using Tags So Much set from Stampin' Up! with Cherry Cobbler ink and the Large Tag punch.  I punched a little hole on each tag  for the hemp twine to go through and tied the cello bags with red curly ribbons.  The leftovers heart circles from the Love Bots collection came in handy as an extension tag for the teachers' names.

Happy Valentine's Week to all!

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
1 Corinthians 13: 4

...Love your enemies...
Luke 6:27

I am thankful for God's grace and mercy as I am surely lacking in many areas mentioned in the verses above.

In honor of Valentine's Day, here are some cards I made:
